Acupuncture for Pets

Acupuncture is a safe, gentle, and effective therapy that can improve your pet’s quality of life. At Swann Animal Clinic at Bushland, we offer veterinary acupuncture to support pain relief, enhance mobility, and promote overall wellness. This ancient practice works by stimulating specific points on the body to encourage natural healing, reduce inflammation, and restore balance to your pet’s systems. Whether your pet is recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or dealing with a medical condition, acupuncture can be an important part of their treatment plan.

At Swann Animal Clinic in Bushland, we offer professional acupuncture services to help pets feel their best. We proudly serve pets and their families throughout the surrounding areas, including Wildorado, Vega, Adrian, Hereford, Dawn, Umbarger, Boys Ranch, and Channing. Whether your dog or cat is seeking pain relief, improved mobility, or overall wellness, our experienced team is here to provide gentle, effective acupuncture care close to home.

What Animals Can Receive Acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be used in dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and exotic pets, but at our clinic, we focus primarily on dogs and cats.

Understanding Your Pet's Acupuncture Points

Acupuncture targets precise points on the body to stimulate the nervous system and promote healing. Techniques like electroacupuncture and aqua acupuncture are also used when appropriate to provide additional benefits.

Conditions That Benefit From Acupuncture

We have seen the most benefit in pets with: - Chronic pain from arthritis - Post-surgical recovery - Neurologic issues such as intervertebral disc disease - Anxiety or stress-related behaviors - Seizures - Allergies - Kidney disease - Back problems

Acupuncture for Senior Pets

Acupuncture can be particularly helpful for senior pets, helping to improve mobility, reduce pain, and support overall wellness. Acupressure techniques may also be incorporated to provide additional comfort for pets with arthritis.

How Acupuncture Fits Into Treatment Plans for Pets

We use acupuncture alongside traditional medications to help manage pain and other conditions. This combined approach often allows us to reduce the amount of medication needed, which is especially beneficial for older pets with liver or kidney concerns.

Finding Acupuncture Services

For pet owners looking for local acupuncture services, we provide both in-clinic and mobile options. Our team can help guide you through treatment plans, including options for pets with chronic conditions, injuries, or anxiety.

Benefits of Acupuncture for Pets

Acupuncture can help reduce pain, improve mobility, support recovery from surgery, and promote overall wellness. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual pet to ensure the best outcomes for their health and comfort.

How Do You Use Acupuncture in Your Treatment Plans?

I tend to treat it as an additional medication tool in my toolbox, so I combine it with our more traditional drugs to try and help lower the amount of medication I need for those patients because a lot of our older dogs and cats often have liver or kidney issues.
